I’m unsure about the material thickness – what now?

For smaller indoor signs with a side length of up to 30 cm, material thicknesses of 2 mm are usually sufficient. The larger the sign, the more stable it should be, otherwise you risk bending! For larger signs, you should therefore choose a higher material thickness. For outdoor use, we generally do not recommend signs under 3 mm thick. You are welcome to call us or contact us by email in individual cases – good advice is part of our service.

You should also consider the size of your sign when choosing the right fastening material so that your advertising medium stays firmly in place.

I need a particularly elegant, representative advertising sign. What material do you recommend?

For particularly representative signs or advertising signs, we recommend printed acrylic or Plexiglas or Alu Dibond or aluminum composite panels. The right thickness depends on the size and location of your sign: For medium and long-term outdoor use, we recommend acrylic glass from 5 mm, Alu-Dibond from 3 mm with foil printing or Alu Dibond Butler finish with UV direct printing. For protected indoor areas with smaller sign sizes, thinner advertising sign material from 2 mm is also suitable. For larger advertising signs, you should choose a higher thickness in the interests of overall stability.

On the one hand I want to advertise, but on the other hand I need a board that can be written on. Is that possible?

If you choose foil printing with a glossy UV protective laminate, you can actually use your advertising board as a modern blackboard! All advertising signs with a glossy UV protective laminate can be written on again and again with standard non-permanent whiteboard markers that can be wiped off dry. So why not, for example, print your logo on the edges of the advertising boards required for the presentation room? Or design the sign with the special offers for your shop in your corporate design? So – stay creative!

I would like to use my advertising sign as a magnetic board, magnetic calendar or much more. Is that possible?

We are happy to equip printed signs made of rigid foam boards and aluminum composite boards with a ferrous foil. This makes it possible to create a magnetic base on non-magnetic advertising sign materials. The ferrous foil cannot be seen as it is embedded between the foil print and the sign material. This option is therefore only available in the calculator for advertising signs with foil print. The ferrous foil has a width of 100 cm. If the foil width is not sufficient, the ferrous foil is laid in multiple layers. The layer transitions are only slightly visible.

Can I drill my advertising sign myself?

In principle: yes. But that depends mainly on how well equipped your craft room is and your DIY skills. For acrylic glass, for example, you need a special drill with the right chip flow, sufficient cooling and a steady hand, otherwise the heat from drilling will quickly build up too much tension in the acrylic material – and your sign could crack or tear! Hard foam boards, aluminum composite boards, butler finish and hollow chamber boards can also be drilled relatively easily yourself. Use a standard metal drill.

I need a round, oval, triangular,… printed advertising sign:

Of course! In the advertising sign calculator you can select the “free form” option as well as the classic “rectangular” cut. Please create the specific contour in your print template. How big can advertising signs be?

We print advertising signs from a minimum size of 10 x 12 cm in your desired size with no size limit. If the size of the advertising sign exceeds 300 x 150 cm, we will print the advertising sign for you from several individual signs with a seamless transition. If this is the case, our calculator will show the note “multi-part”.

Which sign is suitable for public areas and trade fairs?

For use in public areas such as exhibitions, authorities, hospitals, etc., as well as at trade fairs, signs must be made from fire-protection-certified sign material. Printed PVC rigid foam signs are B1-certified and therefore suitable for use at trade fairs or in public buildings without any restrictions. Alternatively, we can offer you an aluminum composite panel variant with a B1-certified mineral core on request.

Printing signs with: standard printing or would you prefer FineArt printing?

The main deciding factor is what you want to print on your sign. Are you planning to have tiny or fine fonts, small logos, fine lines, small barcodes or QR codes printed on signs? For us, small fonts are under 10 pt and logos and codes under 3 cm. Then sign printing in FineArt mode is the right choice for you.

In FineArt mode, our printers print even more details – using smaller and finer ink droplets.

For everything else, our “standard print” is completely sufficient. It is only called “standard print” because this print quality is the most frequently ordered for advertising signs, so it is our standard.
