Cover your fleet, your shop window or anything else that can be covered with foil plots made of dyed Oracal 751C high-performance adhesive film. We will plot your lettering, your logo or any other desired shape in your favorite color. All you have to do is stick it on!
Foil plots – we plot whatever you want!
We plot lettering, company logos, stickers, car decals and all other vector graphics inexpensively using foil cutting. We use a high-quality, cast, self-adhesive and completely colored plotter foil.
How is a foil plot made?
- We place the roll of foil in the desired color of the foil plot, the plotter foil with backing paper, into our cutting plotter. After inserting the foil, adjust the cutting depth of the plotter knife so that the foil is cut through, but the backing paper or silicone paper is not cut.
- We start the plotting process. The plotter controls the knife and the film movement so that the shape defined in the plotting data is cut into the film. The plotter orientates itself on the vector lines in the file. For this reason, we need vector data for plotting. With our Summa tangential plotters – with tangential plotters, the knife is also actively rotated by a motor – the cut is extremely clean. Even with sharp corners and angles!
- When the plotter has cut all the vectors, we remove the foil roll from the plotter and lay the foil plot out on a table for weeding.
- All unnecessary foil segments are removed by hand. This is called weeding. Depending on the size of the elements, this may or may not be easy. For this reason, the lowercase letters of fonts must be at least 1.5 cm high and the minimum line width must not be less than 2 mm.
- Once all unnecessary parts of the foil have been removed, we pull an application tape or a transfer foil onto the foil plot. This means that all elements of the foil plot can be removed from the backing paper in one go. The individual parts stick to the transfer aid, the tape, and can be stuck on with the correct distance – nice and straight. Done!
How do I create the plot file correctly?
For cutting plots we need data in vector format. Design your template using a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Corel Draw, etc. and upload your open data or a PDF file after placing your order.
We cannot process pixel-based image files such as JPG, PNG, PSD or TIFF because the cutting information is not available as a vector. We would be happy to help you convert image data or design your foil plot according to your wishes. To do this, simply select “Design: with design service” in the calculator. After placing your order, you can provide us with information about the design and upload sample files if necessary.
Is there anything I need to pay attention to when gluing?
Our foil plots can be glued dry or wet. The surface should be cleaned before gluing. The best way to do this is to use isopropanol alcohol. You can get this from any pharmacy. The advantage of isopropanol alcohol is that it evaporates without leaving any residue. This means the surface is free of dust and grease and perfectly prepared for gluing.
